Jellicoe made the clock - somewhere around 1812. He stuffed his ears with cotton wool so he couldn't hear all the clocks in his shop chime and for a long time the ghosts all thought he was deaf - but then he discovered all the cotton wool in his ears and got rid of it and now he can hear perfectly. He looks after John when he visits the clock.
